Self-Catering holidays to Nerja on the Costa del Sol
Well, that’s me back from a week in a self-catering apartment in Nerja. Although I write this blog I live in the mountains above Malaga, close to Antequera. That’s about 1 hour and 20 minutes to Nerja.
Several times a year we stay for a week in Nerja. I need to keep updated with events, take new photographs and, of course, go to Goa Town Indian restaurant for the best Curry in Spain. Phaal!
Eating out in Nerja – Goa Town
What is ‘Phaal curry’? It’s not every day that chefs wear gas masks while whipping up a dish. But when they do the dish in question has to be Phaal curry. Made from Bhut Jolokia, the hottest chilli in the world, Phaal holds the distinction of being the hottest curry in the world.
Phaal originates from the Pakistani / Bangladeshi communities in Birmingham. However; the Geordies of Newcastle are well known for eating a red-hot Phaal after a few pints. Goa Town restaurant in Nerja is a fantastic place. It is only a small restaurant but big on service and great food. If you are in Nerja, why not try it.
Capistrano Playa Self-Catering Apartments in Nerja
One of the very best places to stay in Nerja is at the Capistrano Playa apartments that overlook Burriana Beach. These self-catering apartments have some of the best views on the Costa del Sol. These apartments overlook Burriana Beach and, of course, the Mediterranean Sea.
The walk down to the beach is via some steep steps. But don’t let this put you off, its landscaped all the way with beautiful flowers and palms. It is actually an easy descent and coming back is made pleasant by the flora and fauna, not to mention the fish ponds and waterfalls on the way.
The self-catering apartments on Capistrano Playa are different sizes, shapes and prices. They all have the pleasure though of a beautiful, large pond-cum-fountain, packed with fish of all sizes and terrapins. There is also a delightful square with a small fountain where you can sit and enjoy the world passing by.
Parking is no problem, there is plenty of parking spaces. If you don’t have a car, getting to the town centre of Nerja will cost around €8.
The communal pool is excellent. Large and surrounded by cool grass. There is also a bar/restaurant in case you need some refreshments. The sunbeds are a bit expensive though; €3:50 per day. But if you take your own beach towels and refreshments, it is very cheap.
Capistrano Playa is the ideal self-catering holiday rental as it is close to the beach, close to Nerja Caves, Close to the towns of Maro and Frigiliana and has two large supermarkets within easy walking distance; Supersol and Mercadona.
