Amber alert for high temperatures in Malaga

After a brief period of relief from the heat, high temperatures are expected to return to Malaga province. Aemet, the state Met Office, has issued a yellow warning for the Antequera area on the last day of July, with maximum temperatures reaching 38°C between 1 pm and 9 pm. This sets the stage for a challenging week ahead, with the weather playing a significant role once again.

Looking ahead, Aemet has issued an amber warning for Tuesday in Malaga City, the western strip of the Costa del Sol, and the Valle del Guadalhorce, where temperatures are expected to soar to 40°C between 1 pm and 9 pm.

Weather expert José Luis Escudero has predicted the arrival of the hot “terral” wind on August 1st, affecting the usual areas of the province, including Malaga city and the Axarquia. Rincón de la Victoria may also experience the terral during the day on Thursday. However, temperatures on Thursday are not expected to be as high as the previous days.

In Malaga city, Aemet forecasts a scorching 40°C and a very high minimum overnight temperature of 25 degrees. Meanwhile, in the Ronda and Antequera areas, maximum temperatures are not anticipated to be as extreme as before.

Escudero also warns of strong westerly gusts along the coast of Malaga and the Alboran Sea, likely leading to the activation of a yellow warning for coastal phenomena in the provinces of Malaga, Granada, and Almeria. Additionally, the seawater temperature on Thursday is expected to be around 18 degrees.

In Malaga City, Aemet predicts wind gusts of 20 kilometres per hour, adding to the weather complexities of the upcoming week.

Like millions of other people, I watch Youtube. Mainly I view cookery videos, some documentaries and sometimes, news articles such as Ukraine war updates and so on.

One thing most of them have in common; they have clickbait headlines.

The videos can be the most mundane, boring, overlong and often plain useless but, they will have that headline to drag you in.

One of the best culprits is a Vlogger by the name of Neil Sean. He is a showbiz correspondent and a bit of this-that-and-the-other. He has a bit of an obsession with Meghan and Harry, A.K.A The Duke and Duchess of York. Neil is a true master baiter (No pun intended!). He pulls me in every time. Neil has the practice down to an art.

What a start to the new year. We are almost two weeks into 2023 and the drama keeps coming. Yet again, we are informed by the Sur in English, a periodical free newspaper for the south of Spain.

Alarm spread through La Bajadilla harbour in Marbella this Wednesday evening after a fire broke out in the premises of Marina Marbella.

The affected warehouses contained boats and nautical sports equipment and SUR has learned that around 80 boats have been destroyed in the fire.

The dramatic blaze, whose cause is not yet known, caused great concern, especially as the back of the building houses a recycling point with flammable substances.

The firefighters tackling the blaze concentrated on containing the fire as soon as possible and preventing it from spreading to boats moored nearby.

By around 9 pm, the fire was considered contained in the area where it broke out. As well as members of the fire brigade, also at the scene were health professionals from the Protección Civil organisation, Local and National Police officers as well as volunteers.
